HEITEC Volleys Eltmann files for bankruptcy proceeding

Men’s German Bundesliga club HEITEC Volleys Eltmann has informed the Volleyball Bundesliga that Eltmann Volleys GmbH, will file an application for bankruptcy proceedings with the Bamberg District Court on Monday, December 23, 2019.

The sporting effects on the men’s volleyball league can only be finally assessed when it has been decided whether the team will continue playing or when they will leave the game – whether by returning or withdrawing the license.

The Volleyball Bundesliga is surprised by this step. In the course of the extensive licensing process, the newcomer had to meet further requirements, had to prove sponsorship proceeds at an early stage, comply with a personnel cost requirement and had to disclose his business analysis on a quarterly basis. In the last regular quarterly discussion on October 31, 2019, the volleyball Bundesliga was not signaled by the club to be economically imbalanced.

„Together with the HEITEC Volleys Eltmann and the insolvency administrator to be appointed, the Volleyball Bundesliga will now carefully examine whether and if so, in what form it is possible and sensible to continue playing,“ said VBL Managing Director Klaus-Peter Jung.

The Bundesliga game of Eltmann Volleys GmbH against volleyball Bisons Bühl scheduled for Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. will be relocated from Brose Arena Bamberg to Georg-Schäfer-Sporthalle Eltmann. This decision was made as part of an immediate cost program.
